ON THE BOARDS
This 210 unit project sits on 2.92 acres in the Master Planned Community of La Floresta in the City of Brea, Ca. La Floresta is a unique site as it has many ‘faces’ due to its central location in the community. A large commercial/retail center borders the South and East sides of the project while multi family units are located to the West and single family units border the North. The challenge for both the architecture and the landscape design was to create a design that could interface with all adjacent uses while establishing its own character. Wide promenade street frontages were designed on the South and East sides to relate the more pedestrian influenced commercial/retail site whereas the North side of the project incorporated ground floor patios to relate to the single family alley loaded product to the North. The West side of the site incorporates a small public passive park along the street to relate to the higher density of the development to the West. The interior courtyard was designed to create a vibrant experience for the residents with a dynamic pool design and a series of gathering areas for various sized groups that incorporate barbecues and counter height dining. The large fire pit overlooks the pool area and provides a connection between the pool and recreation facility. Residents are able to have the feeling of resort living with all the necessary goods, services and entertainment located (literally) across the street.
