Thirty years after providing landscape architectural services for the original Lawrence Welk resort in Escondido, California, GMP is working again with Welk Resorts in the design of the Mountain Villas Resort and Preview Center; an additional 146-units in this luxury resort project. Landscape architectural designs include a 7,250 square foot lagoon style pool with a beach entry, spacious deck and lawn areas with lounge and seating areas for 250, two exclusive spa areas, and an expansive rock work feature incorporating a water slide, cove and waterfalls. The pool area includes an artistic children’s water play area representative of a whale swimming complete with wake designed in the paving pattern. A vanishing edge water feature incorporates private cabanas and patios designed to overlook the golf course and a spacious lawn area available for lounging and special events.

The landscape design demonstrates how environmentally sensitive materials can be lush and create a resort feel very much in keeping with the lodge style of this part of the resort. GMP involvement included providing theming, conceptual design, landscape & irrigation design, construction documents, site observation, and construction administration.
